Eat Like A Local: Upscale Restaurants

Key West is a foodie’s dream, with an extensive variety of options at your fingertips when it comes to island cuisine. Lovers of Cuban food, authentic Mexican dishes, Caribbean Flavors or a blend of American-fusion food, will all find something to enjoy. Our other blog post features a collection of casual eateries that the locals covet, but this feature writes up some of the most popular, finer dining options the island has to offer.

Let your tastebuds soar: splurge on truly unique dishes like carrot and curry soup or miso-marinated eggplant salad, Caribbean Shrimp deglazed with red stripe or pan-sautéed yellowtail with citrus beurre blanc. The menu stays consistent throughout the year, so you can always come back knowing your favorite times will be available. A couple streets down from Duval, next to the Hemingway House is Moondog Cafe, one of our favorite spots for brunch and sweet treats. Eat indoors or in the covered outdoor dining area, shaded by the notable large Red Delonix tree out front. Moondog doubles as a restaurant and a desert bakery, with a large assortment of cakes, cookies, and hand-pies in their display by the front desk. This joint covers options for just about every type of eater, including vegans, vegetarians, meat lovers, and those with a major sweet tooth. A fixed menu is always available with the restaurant's most popular dishes, with a menu of daily specials for food and drink always in rotation. This is Azie's favorite local eatery and she recommends the daily Sangria to start!
